Eric Gil – Dance Director & Choreographer / Contemporary
Born and raised in Miami, FL, award-winning dancer and performer Eric Gil began his training at the age of 10, under the guidance and instruction of Angel Fraser Logan (contemporary dance) and Tawanna Hall Carlton (hip-hop dance) at Dance Empire in Miami.
Eric has earned many awards and accolades including, Best Choreography, Best Overall, Best Studio and Most Artistic. At the Conservatory at New World School of the Arts, Eric received a full scholarship with Ballet Hispanico by CEO and Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro. In addition, Eric received the prestigious The Dizzy Feet Foundation Scholarship (founded by producers Nigel Lithgoe of “So You Think You Can Dance” and Adam Shankman).
In addition to his passion for dance, Eric also studied acting at the New York Film Conservatory. In 2012, Eric played the role of a bartender and a principal dancer in the movie, “Rock of Ages,” alongside Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Julianne Hough. Eric also played the role of a dancer in Ricky Martin’s music video, “Come With Me” in 2013.
In 2016, Eric entered the world of ballroom dance and joined the Dance With Me Studios franchise, owned by Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy of“Dancing With The Stars,” as a dance instructor at its Midtown NYC location.
During his time with Dance With Me, Eric trained in various ballroom dance styles, including American Rhythm (Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing, Bolero) and American Smooth (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz).
Performing on stage has always been a calling for Eric, who has been asked to perform in numerous shows for well-renowned choreographers, such as Jamar Roberts of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Yoshito Sakaruba of Abarukas.
With his experiences, training and passion to share his love of dance, Eric is thrilled to open his own dance studio in spring 2019, EMG Dance Studios, in New Jersey. Eric’s goal for EMG Dance Studios is to train strong, technical dancers and prepare them for dance competitions, commercial work, auditions for college and conservatory admissions, and auditions for major dance companies.
Eric is looking forward to this new chapter in his life – the opportunity to build a dance family and taking them on a dance journey of love, strength, fun, creativity and limitless possibilities.
“Let us dance on the magic carpet and begin the years of success.”
