Matthew Hauer – Ballroom Dance
Matthew Hauer grew up with a love and passion for sports and arts. He naturally fell into the role of a dancer at the young age of 13 and has not stopped inspiring others through movement since.
Matthew attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music, and Performing Arts, for Dance, and picked up ballroom dancing on the side. He received his Diploma in 2001, with a strong foundation of ballet and modern dance. Matt decided to continue his training into SUNY Purchase, Conservatory of Dance, where he graduated with his Bachelors in Fine Arts. Throughout the school years, he competed heavily throughout North America in the competitive world of ballroom dancing.
He went on to compete nationally and was named the 2004, and 2005, National Amateur American Rhythm Champion. In 2006, he was the National Professional American Rhythm Rising Star Champion and was crowned the 2008 French Open Champion. He is a 4 time National Mambo Champion and a World Mambo and Salsa Champion. In 2018, Matthew placed 3rd in the most prestigious competitions in Blackpool, England. He has performed for many charities, benefits, and shows throughout America.
As a teacher for over 14 years, Matthew takes great pride in training students to achieve greatness. Some of his students have gone on to win world and national titles as well. Matt is a full time coach, choreographer, and still competes on the circuit with his students. Taking his teachings further as a movement coach, Matt is currently focusing on structural integration and anatomy. He hopes to show and bring inspiration to many lives through his studies and work.
